Title: Graphic Designer

Time Period: January 11^th-April 30^th

Hours per week: 6-8

Description:

Intern will do graphic designing for 31 Bits, which will include:

-Monthly newsletters

-Updating line sheets

-Promotion packets

-Any current design projects

Requirements:

1 year of graphic design experience

Provide sample work

Display creativity and artistc ability

Have access to Photoshop

Title: Event Representative

Time Period: January 11^th- April 30^th

Hours per week: 6-8

Description:

This will be a two-person internship. We will pair you with one other person and you will be required to:

Organize church, school, craft, or art events throughout the Southern California area (youth groups, church services, special events, school events, etc). Contact churches and schools, research local art events, and set up date and time to attend events. It may require you to give a brief presentation about the organization, Uganda, and what 31 Bits is doing there. A Booth will be set up after services or at events to sell product, talk more with people about the organization, and spread the word about our ladies in Uganda.

Requirements:

Be knowledgeable about 31 Bits. We will have meeting secessions where we will prepare you and talk with you about our organization. You will be informed about Uganda and 31 Bits.

Contact churches and schools in Southern California, as well as research local art and craft events in the area and organize times to attend their services/events.

Attend one church service or event each week (starting in February). This can be a youth group, main service, Saturday night service, special event, school event, art show, etc.

Be willing to give brief presentation at service or event about 31 Bits.

Set up a booth and sell product at service or event.

Check in with intern coordinator weekly.

Be in office one hour a week to meet with intern coordinator and talk about what churches you have contacted and what events you plan to attend.

And most importantly…

Have a heart for people. Support our vision and know the causes of our organization. Be passionate about what we are doing. Spread the story about 31 Bits and the ladies we work with in Uganda.

Some people have blogged about how they believe that the Wild Things are just different facets of Max’s personality.  Others propose that Wild Things are a metaphor for Israel’s struggle.

I propose a different idea. The movie version of Where the Wild Things Are is a director’s vision.  As one person oversees all elements it can only always be - the director’s vision.  He had one thing he really needed to say.

The wrong we do to others we can never take back.

We do lots of things to try to fix it, but part of growing up is learning that we are broken, fallible - and because of our experiences we will never be the same.

SPOILER ALERT::: The most visual example of this is Douglas, one of the Wild Things.  In a fight with his very best friend Carol, his arm is torn off.  Like an hourglass, the arm is full of sand, falls off and cannot be repaired.  He wears a stick for an arm the rest of the movie.

Max’s mom feeds him a big piece of chocolate cake at the end of the film.  Does it right the wrongs?  Not at all.  But it begins to say how sorry we are.

Pitches will be recorded live November 7-10 on a mini-set at the American Film Market. Each pitch will be limited to two-and-a-half minutes.

Afterward, the AFM will assemble a group of industry leaders to select five finalists. Their pitches will be posted on www.PeoplesChoice.com — the official PCA Website — following CBS’ broadcast of THE 2010 PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS in early January, allowing fans to choose the ultimate winner: the film they would most like to see get made.
